My name is Kayla Eickmann and this is my business. I am the face behind the cakes! Right now Sparkles Bakery is ran at home in plans to open up a store front.
Let me tell you a little about how I got to where I am today. It all began my sophomore year of high school. I was watching food network and this show came on called “Food Network Challenge” It was a show about pastry chefs/cake artists competing to win 10,000 dollars and whoever made the best cake won. I fell in love with the concept. Baking is a art. And I had always wanted to become an artist but never thought it would come of anything, but I had it set in my mind that I wanted to go to school for this. So I applied to Johnson and wales University in Denver, CO and I got accepted. After high school I was off to Johnson and Wales University and in 2014 I got my AS in Baking and Pastry Arts. While in school I worked at a bakery called Tiffani’s, sadly they are now closed. I also did my internship at Mermaids Bakery in Denver, CO.
I got a lot of experience from working both places and after school I was able to get a job at Whole foods as a cake decorator. I was there for two years, and ended up switching jobs. I became a pastry cook at Inverness Hotel now known as Hilton Denver Inverness. Working in hospitality was a change, but good change. Not only did I learn speed, I got a lot more experience in my wedding cakes. I went to one other place before I landing at a bakery in Highlands Ranch. I am the pastry chef there during the day and by night I am my own boss working on whipping up specialty cakes, cookies etc. I love what I do, very passionate and very dedicated. I love making happy by one simple thing…. CAKE!!
